About Dr. Mark Philo Short

Dr. Short has had, in the words of his former Supervisor Dr. Joaquin Sanchez, “an unusual degree of success” with more challenging clients including helping those struggling with eating disorders, anger and sadness, gender identity matters, and relationship concerns.

Dr. Mark Short is a married father of three (two teens, and a 12 year old) with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2006) from The Wright Institute at Berkeley.  He has worked as a teacher in Special Education and also for The Department of Family Services in Las Vegas.  


Dr. Short has had, in the words of his former Supervisor Dr. Joaquin Sanchez, “an unusual degree of success” with more challenging clients including helping those struggling with eating disorders, anger and sadness, gender identity matters, and relationship concerns. Some of his favorite clients to work with include couples in therapy together, and helping parents and  kids navigate mood swings from anger to sadness.


Dr. Short has had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of settings including  Santa Rosa Junior College Student Therapy Center, Claybank Jail, and The Ananda Institute providing individual couples, family, group, and child therapy, while concurrently working for years at a non-profit servicing those with severe psychopathology. He has lead dozens of county mandated COPE seminars for parents on how to protect children and parents in a divorcing household and has co-led dozens of court mandated Domestic violence groups.
