Dr. Jeffrey C. Wood
Psychologist
Dr. Wood is a psychologist with nearly 15 years of experience working in the mental health field. He is the author and co-author of several books, including The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook, The DBT Skills Diary, The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Skills Workbook for Personality Disorders, Therapy 101, and Getting Help.
Currently Dr. Wood’s clinical practice emphasizes the use of solution focused treatments—such as cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and cognitive processing therapy—for the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic pain related issues, addiction, and stress. In addition, Dr. Wood has experience providing coaching skills to executives, conducting assessments, and supporting military and first responders.
Prior to joining IPS, Dr. Wood worked for the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System for four years in various roles, including director of the Las Vegas Vet Center, addictions counselor, and trauma specialist. Before that Dr. Wood served as an active duty psychologist in the United States Air Force, where he earned the rank of captain, deployed to Afghanistan in support of the US Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade and 93D Military Police Battalion, and served as the primary Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) psychologist in theater.
Dr. Wood completed his doctoral degree at the Wright Institute, Berkeley, CA; his pre-doctoral internship at Central California Psychology Internship Consortium, Fresno, CA; and his post-doctoral fellowship at Kaiser Permanente’s Chronic Pain Department, San Francisco, CA.
